ONE of the designers behind Bob the Builder will help open a business centre today.
Curtis Jobling, a production designer on the Bafta-winning TV animation, returns to Middlesbrough to help launch the University of Teesside's graduate business incubation centre.
Mr Jobling, a former student at Cleveland College of Art and Design, who now lives in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, said: "The university's graduate business incubation units are a marvellous way to support young graduates while they get to grips with running their own businesses.
"Help like this is priceless."
The 114-year-old building has undergone a £1.3m revamp, transforming it into studio and office space for up to 24 start-up businesses.
Teesside's Upgrade Graduate Enterprise scheme is open to graduates from all five North-East universities and others from the North-East who have studied in other parts of the country.
Entrepreneurs receive a package of advice and support, including business guidance and mentoring.
The university launched the service in 2000. Since then, more than 60 companies have started on the campus. There are presently 22, with ten based in the Victoria Building.
