Eleven teachers from the Bedale area have returned from an educational field trip of their own - thousands of miles away in Africa.
They travelled to Abuja in Nigeria, where they discovered a very different and diverse culture, where class sizes can sometimes be as big as 125 pupils. The visit was organised through the British Council as part of the teachers' international professional development.
The theme of the visit was inclusion and examined how primary and secondary schools try to integrate all pupils, in a country which has more than 200 languages, and a high proportion of Christians and Muslims.
Bedale High School deputy head Ann Lewin said: "Members of the team were involved in teaching at a number of local schools and found this a hugely rewarding and moving experience."
