A Darlington nailbar is promising a wider variety of services under new management.
Mandy Williamson, 40, fulfilled one of her dreams when she took over Nailbar 1, in Northumberland Street, last month.
Ms Williamson, a former PA at Orange, had promised herself a new career before she turned 40.
Last year, she changed careers and went to work for Saks in Darlington, before discovering that Nailbar 1 was for sale and taking over the business.
She said: "I promised myself a new career and to learn how to dive and I've done both.
"I'm really enjoying it. I've always loved 'girly things' and this is something I've always wanted to do.
"I really enjoy the chat and the social side of the business."
Ms Williamson has taken on two employees, Beverley Nelson and Rachel Hanson.
The salon has also recently introduced spray-tanning and has undergone refurbishment to install spraybooths.
Ms Williamson is also hoping to redecorate the shop in the near future to help establish her own identity.
