FINAL preparations are under way for a week-long celebration of Herriot country.
Herriot Happenings is now in its fourth year and is organised as a celebration of the area by members of the Herriot Country Attractions Group.
The event runs from May 28 to June 5 but will be launched on Monday with the annual snail derby at Thirsk Racecourse, North Yorkshire.
On June 2, the World of James Herriot, in Thirsk, will team up with the Wensleydale Railway. Visitors to the attraction will be able to travel on a vintage bus to Leeming Bar before catching a train into the Dales. Other events will take place at St Gregory's Church in Bedale, Beningbrough Hall, near York, Thorp Perrow Arboretum, near Bedale, Kiplin Hall, near Richmond and Mount Grace Priory, near Osmotherley.
