A CEREMONY to celebrate the achievements of adult learners in Darlington is being staged this week.
The event, at the Town Hall tomorrow, marks the beginning of Adult Learners' Week - a national initiative to raise awareness about adult learning opportunities and the benefits of it.
Individuals and groups of learners will receive awards from the Mayor of Darlington, Councillor Stella Robson, and the ceremony will be hosted by the chairman of Darlington Learning Partnership and principal of Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, David Heaton.
Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College's evening GCSE English class was nominated by its teacher George Birch.
He said: "The students of this class have consistently demonstrated great commitment to learning. In spite of family, personal and work commitments, the students have attended regularly and always with a cheerfulness."
