No Relief: IN your headline report, New toll road possible, Advertiser, May 7, there was reference to a northern relief road running from the A690 to Aykley Heads.
When the Arnison Centre was being developed it was understood that the northern relief road when constructed would run from the A1M, A690 to connect with the road construction that runs on to the large roundabout at the north end of Pity Me.
Does it make sense to congest traffic even more at Aykley Heads with the headquarters of police, fire brigade and county council along with the University Hospital, all being immediate?
Does it make sense to have Pity Me Front Street and Framwellgate Moor congested by more through traffic?
The county council, by moving the problem, does not mean it is solving the problem.
The original proposal to the north of Pity Me has a degree of thought and sense about it.
At the end of the day I suppose it will boil down to whose best interests are being served, the public servants or the general public.

A great loss
CAN I pay tribute to Peter Thompson who lost his seat in Gilesgate.
I have many experiences of how hard he worked for the people of the area and his deep commitment to their needs and interests. A great loss.
