HUNDREDS of children from Teesdale primary schools are expected to visit a local sports centre this weekend to become more active.
The youngsters will be taking part in a family fun day at Teesdale Sports Centre in Barnard Castle, on Sunday, organised by the Durham Dales Primary Care Trust Leap project.
Last year, more than 400 children attended the event.
The fun day is part of a two-week healthy activity programme for Teesdale primary schools co-ordinated by Teesdale Leisure Services, the primary care trust and the Local Education Authority.
A wide of range activities will be available free of charge, including climbing, new age curling, football, dance, yoga and tai chi.
