A CHARITABLE trust has staged its annual concert to raise money for its work with young musicians.
The orchestra from Durham Johnston School and the choir from St Leonard's School, both Durham, performed at last week's concert in Elvet Methodist Church for Saint Cecilia Lodge. Saint Cecilia's, in Crook, gives grants and bursaries to young musicians to help them develop their musical studies and careers.
The concert raised about £1,000 for the trust, which in recent years has given grants to members of the National Children's Orchestra and the National Youth Brass Band, as well as talented young musicians to buy instruments and to pay for recording sessions.
Saint Cecilia Lodge also organises an annual musical competition for young composers, which takes place next month.
