A SIXTH Form student has been entertaining visitors to a County Durham museum.
Simon Walker, 17, from Barnard Castle School, was one of a number of organists to play lunchtime recitals at one of the art galleries in the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle.
The Barnard Castle School Choral Society will also be performing in the museum on Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
Brian Mawhinney, the director of music at the school, said: "Saturday will see a collection of British music to mark the VE day celebrations including, of course, Rule Britannia and the Lord is My Shepherd."
Simon, 17, of Croft, said he enjoyed playing at the museum.
He added: "It is a bit daunting to perform in front of an audience, but you have to get on with it and I find it extremely rewarding."
Simon, who is deputy organist at St Cuthbert's Church, in Darlington, leaves Barnard Castle School this summer and hopes to read music at university.
He has already played the organ at Durham Cathedral and York Minster. The choral society concert starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £12 and can be obtained by calling the school on (01833) 690222, or the Bowes Museum on (01833) 690606.
