THREE youngsters have been named Ripon Young Musicians of the Year after a hard-fought contest.
Thirty-eight musical students up to the age of 18 took part in the contest, which is open to young people living or at school within the HG4 postcode area.
The winner of the junior class of the competition was 11-year-old flautist Francesca Schofield, from Ripon Cathedral Choir School.
In the intermediate class, 12-year-old horn player Benjamin Kirk, also from the Cathedral Choir School, won and 17-year-old flautist Harriet Dyson, from Ripon Grammar School, won the senior class.
