THE changing face of Darlington over the past few decades was revealed at the weekend, as heritage campaigners staged a major exhibition.
Darlington Civic Trust displayed a wealth of photographs and information about the changes the town has gone through.
Buildings of architectural and historical importance, many of which were lost to development and regeneration projects during the 1960s and 1970s, were particularly highlighted.
Local historian George Flynn was also on hand to discuss the images with visitors to the Friends' Meeting House, in Skinnergate, on Saturday.
Among the prominent buildings to feature were the Pease and Partners offices, which made way for the Northgate entrance to the Cornmill Centre, the Chesterfields site and the old Northgate police station.
Heather Bell, of the civic trust, said: "We were also concentrating on how important it is to preserve the buildings we still have and urge people to enjoy the aesthetic value."
