A TRIBUTE to Teesside's men of steel stopped traffic in its tracks yesterday.
Cleveland Police shut part of the A66, on the edge of Middlesbrough, as a five-tonne steel sculpture of a ladle was installed on a roundabout at the entrance to the South Tees Business Park, at South Bank.
The South Tees Business Forum, made up of more than 130 businesses, chose Stokesley artist Steve Tomlinson to design the sculpture, which signifies the importance of the steel industry to Teesside.
The sculpture was built with steel donated by Anglo-Dutch steelmaker Corus and was lowered into place by a 50-tonne capacity crane.
