PEOPLE in Hartlepool are being offered a chance to air their views on the development of one of the last waterfront sites in the town's marina.
They are being invited to a drop-in session to comment on possible uses for a hectare of land next to Jackson Dock, by the Museum of Hartlepool.
The informal event will take place in the cafe aboard the Wingfield Castle ship, from 4pm to 8pm tomorrow.
Richard Waldmeyer, Hartlepool Borough Council's principal planning officer, said: "In view of the site's important waterfront position, we want to ensure that any development of the site is of the highest quality, both in terms of its use and design."
The council has prepared a draft development brief setting out the aspirations of those involved in the development, including preferred uses for the site, together with general planning requirements and design quality.
Planning officials hope to finalise their views in the next few weeks so the site can be marketed in the near future, but first they want to give local people the chance to make their views known.
Comments can be made at the drop-in event, and all replies should be received by the council at its Bryan Hanson House offices by 5pm on Tuesday, June 14.
