A HEAVILY-USED rubbish tip could be expanded to cope with demand.
Councillors have been recommended by planners to approve the proposals for Wetherby Road tip, in Harrogate, now called the Stonefall Community Recycling Centre.
Harrogate Borough Council's cabinet will discuss the plan on Wednesday.
Wetherby Road is one of the most congested in Harrogate, and through traffic is often delayed by people queuing to get into the Stonefall site's restricted entrance.
The new scheme could see cycleways created, along with junction improvements, enhancement of public open space in the area and general improvements to the site itself.
