A HOLIDAYMAKER from Holland has died in hospital after a fall from his bike in North Yorkshire.
The man, who was on a touring holiday with his wife, has yet to be named.
He came off his machine as he was travelling down a bank between Mickleby and Ellerby, on the A174 Whitby to Saltburn road.
The 59-year-old was said to have been travelling at "some speed" and suffered serious injuries.
He was taken to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, by air ambulance where he died a few hours later.
No other vehicles were involved and one possibility being investigated is that he may have suffered a heart attack.
The accident happened at about 10.20am on Friday and the road was closed to traffic for more than three hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who can help is asked to contact them on 0845 6060247.
