TWO actors who entertained troops as part of the famous RAF Gang Shows during the Second World War are coming to Darlington to talk about their experiences.
Harry Herring and Helen Russell will relive their wartime days and provide old-fashioned entertainment at the Centre for Local Studies, in the Crown Street Library, on Friday.
Their visit coincides with an open day as part of the Historical Association's local history month.
Ms Russell and Mr Herring, who performed in the Gang Shows, which helped launch the careers of entertainers such as Peter Sellars, Dick Emery and Tony Hancock, will be performing at 11am and 2pm.
The open day takes place between 10am and 4pm and there will exhibitions of old photographs and newspapers, as well as ration books, wartime cook books and maps showing locations of air raid shelters in Darlington.
