YOUNGSTERS from schools in County Durham met yesterday to take part in a science project.
Thirty children from Consett Infant School, Trimdon Grange Infant School and Parkside Infant School, in Seaham, met at the Consett school.
They had to see how far toy cars would travel on a variety of surfaces and from ramps at various heights.
The six and seven-year-olds tested the distances travelled on cardboard, carpet, rubber and bubblewrap.
They had carried out a similar experiment recently and had e-mailed each other with the results.
Yesterday was the first time the students had met and been able to compare their findings.
Their results were plotted on a graph.
Consett Infant School headteacher Lyn Blacklock, who is co-ordinating the project, said: "It really is the way forward to get children to network and make contact with each other.
"It has been a very satisfying project and we hope to work with the schools again in the future."
