A TRANQUIL haven where grieving relatives can reflect has been unveiled at Tudhoe Cemetery.
Outgoing Spennymoor Town Mayor John Culin, carrying out one of his last engagements, opened the memorial garden, which has been created by town council staff.
Councillor Culin was joined by other representatives of the council and families at a ceremony.
The garden was designed by cemetery staff following visits to other memorial gardens in the region.
It is divided into four areas called spring, summer, autumn and winter with memorial seats for visitors to sit in quiet reflection.
Council leader John Marr said: "I am very proud of our workforce for the amount of work they have put in. They have done a fantastic job.
"It has provided a peaceful and tranquil area for people to come down here and remember their loved ones.
