POLICE are warning people to beware of bogus callers after two elderly women were targeted on Monday in separate incidents.
At noon, two men called at the home of an elderly woman in Osmotherley, near Northallerton, North Yorkshire. One kept her talking about the boundaries of her property, while the other one sneaked into her house and stole cash.
The first man was in his early 30s and the second man, who was in his 20s, was wearing blue jeans and a navy blue top.
Two men visited an elderly woman in Husthwaite, near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, between 1.30pm and 1.45pm. They tried to get into the house by saying they needed to check her stop tap, but when she refused, they pushed their way in. It is not known if anything was stolen.
Police say it is not known if the incidents are linked. Anyone with information is asked to contact Northallerton CID on (01609) 789452.
