A MEDIEVAL manor house attraction is offering visitors an enchanting treat next week.
Crook Hall, half-a-mile from Durham city centre, hopes to attract families with young children during the Whit half-term holiday.
The 13th Century hall, set in four-acres of themed gardens, off Sidegate, is adopting a fairytale theme next week.
It includes fairytale treasure hunts in the gardens, with Little Red Riding Hood handing out rewards to everyone completing the trail.
The Big Bad Wolf will put in an occasional appearance, but parents can rest assured that he will be kept firmly under control, under strict instructions not to eat anyone.
Fireside fairytale readings will be given in the hall's Jacobean room and visitors will be invited to leave a wish on the wishing tree.
Troll hunts will be staged in the area of the bridge by the moat pool, which he is rumoured to inhabit.
There is also a chance to follow the Yellow Brick Road to the magic treasure chest, while children are invited to visit Snow White's magical room.
Young visitors are invited to get into the spirit by dressing as a fairytale character.
Fairy Tale Week runs from Sunday to Thursday, June 2, from 1pm to 5pm daily.
Admission is £4 for adults, £3.50 for concessions and £12 for family groups of two adults and up to three children.
