SILTON moved to the top of the table following their second victory of the season.
Batting first at the Northallerton Town Ground, the new home of Tickle Toby CD, Silton's openers put on 41 before John Harper (27) was bowled in the seventh over by Chris Wayman.
Chris Cowton then made only one before he became Richard Hammerton's first victim in a fairly expensive spell of 2-46. Kevin Clarkson joined the in-form David Thompson at the crease and the pair proceeded to smash 113 runs from the final 11 overs.
Clarkson finished unbeaten on 30 and Thompson made 67, including five fours and three sixes, before he was out with only a couple of balls left.
Silton's total of 157-3 meant CD were required to score at almost eight runs per over, no mean task against one of the league's most economical bowlers in Clarkson and Richard Bentley, who now plays NYSD Premier League cricket at the Town Ground.
Despite losing only one wicket in the first ten overs, CD then lost vital wickets in the chase for runs. After playing leading roles with the bat in their last match, CD needed the Fishburn brothers to do the same against Silton, but this time they could only manage one run between them.
Once these two had departed an exceptional knock was required from opener Albert Aurelius, but his valuable contribution of 55 was ended by Paul Nicholson, who claimed 3-17.
Rob Cowton (2-2) chipped in with a couple of late wickets as CD ran out of overs at 94-7 to leave Silton comfortable winners by 63 runs.
East Harlsey were looking for their first win of the season when they entertained Leake. The visitors batted first and were pegged down by the bowling of George Kay (2-7) and Keith Wheldon (0-11) during the first ten overs, the score standing at 23-2.
The runs flowed more freely during the final ten overs, but seven wickets were to fall as left-armer Chris Ward picked up 4-21 and Dave Willey 3-19.
Bernard Lowther batted 16 overs in making 20 for Leake, but his was their best score by some margin as the visitors finished up with a total of 65-9.
When Harlsey replied their batsmen also found that it wasn't easy to score freely and Andrew Chandler bowled a very accurate five-over spell, claiming 1-6.
Bill Town (2-13) was also causing the batsmen problems at the other end, but Harlsey crept slowly to their target thanks to patient knocks from skipper Mark Wheldon (16) and Tim Howard (17).
In the end, seven balls remained when George Kay smote a huge six to win the game for Harlsey at 70-4.
