A CHARITY walker is due to complete a 500-mile sponsored walk tomorrow in memory of a remarkable North-Easterner.
Gary Blair was so moved after seeing the TV documentary, called The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off about the late Jonny Kennedy that he wanted to do something.
Jonny made a frank, touching and funny documentary about living with the nightmarish skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
Following Jonny's death, the EB charity DebRa has launched a £1m campaign to improve support for EB sufferers who live in the North-East.
Since April 30 Mr Blair, who comes from Jonny's home town of Alnwick, in Northumberland, has been walking from Weston-Super-Mare, in Devon, towards Alnwick.
Covering more than 20 miles a day and camping out every night, Mr Blair is very close to his goal.
Today, he will be joined on the last 15 miles by Jonny's mother, Edna Kennedy along with 20 service personnel from RAF Boulmer.
Mr Blair has already raised almost £8,000 towards his target of £10,000.
He can be sponsored at www.justgiving.com/walk2alnwick
