A SHOPPING centre is offering customers the chance to get their hands on £1,000 in a TV-inspired competition.

They will have seconds to scoop as many banknotes as they can that will be blown about inside a booth at the Prince Bishops centre on Bank Holiday Monday.

It is based on the Grab a Grand competition that featured on Noel's House Party and will be open to shoppers who spend £50 or more at the centre's stores.

If they take their receipt to the booth, they will be entered in a draw that will be held every hour between noon and 4pm, meaning that five people will have the chance to go for the cash.

The amount of time they get in the booth will depend on how much they have spent, ranging from 30 seconds for £50 to £100 to a minute for more than £200.

"We're rewarding customers for their continued support by giving them a chance to win back the money that they have spent here," said centre manager Richard Toynbee.

"It might look like another famous attraction from Noel's House Party, but I can assure all our customers there is no gunge tank attachment," Mr Toynbee added.

Contestants must be 18 years or over. Century FM presenter Judie McCourt will attend the event.
