DETECTIVES investigating a serious assault on a man in a city centre bar are urging more witnesses to come forward.
The 37-year-old was found near the entrance doors to the Quilted Camel bar, in Sandhill, Newcastle, at about 10pm on Saturday, May 14.
Nearly two weeks later, the victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Three men have been arrested and bailed in connection with the attack, but officers have been disappointed by the amount of people coming forward.
Detective Inspector Lee Buzzeo, who is leading the investigation, said: "A man has been critically injured and we are confident there were a lot of people who may have seen something that night, but who have not yet come forward.
"I would urge them to get in touch with any information they may have, however trivial they think it might be."
The bar and the area outside were both busy at the time of the incident, and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0191-214 6555, ext 62152.
