A FARMER has donated the money he received for his 60th birthday to his local hospital.
John Waggett, of Richmond, presented the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton, with £140. The money will go to the Scott Suite, which cares for breast cancer patients.
Mr Waggett said: "I did not really need any presents, though it is always lovely to receive them.
"I wanted to use my birthday to help patients instead, and I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone who helped me achieve this."
Nurse Louise Sadler said: "We will be using his donation to go towards buying a sentinel node probe, which assists surgeons when they operate on lymph glands during breast surgery."
