A BANK has given financial backing to a community centre's plans to offer a computer suite to residents.
Wheatley Hill Community Centre is building an extension that will house an IT room and Barclays Bank has given a £25,000 donation to pay for computers.
The centre's manager, Gloria Hird, said: "We are extremely grateful to Barclays for this donation, which will allow us to equip the new IT room within the extension to the existing building.
"The new extension is progressing well and providing online access and training in the new surroundings will benefit the whole community."
Work on the community centre extension started last month and is due to be completed in September.
Stella McRae, Barclays' regional community manager, said: "At Barclays we are committed to communities and we are delighted to support Wheatley Hill Community Centre.
"This is a lovely project and it is a great opportunity for us to help make a real and lasting difference to the local community.''
