COMMUNITY minded people are being urged to help improve the well-being of their area by joining a health forum.
Health forums are fully operational within the district of Easington and encourage people to become involved in local health initiatives.
The groups promote health and well-being in several ways, including organising health awareness days and liaising with the community and health professionals.
Health forums can also award small grants to groups or organisations which would not necessarily attract funding from other sources.
Local groups are able to apply for cash towards particular projects or equipment, providing they relate to health or healthy activities.
Sarah Scott, patient and public involvement development officer, said: "Anyone living in the district of Easington who has an interest in health is invited to join a health forum in their area.
"It is an excellent opportunity to become actively involved and help make a real difference to their community."
Ann Peel, chairwoman of Horden health forum, said: "Working with our health forum makes life much more interesting and worthwhile. I really feel that I am making a difference in my village.''
