SHREDDING recycled timber in a Lower Swaledale village is likely to upset turkeys kept in nearby sheds, according to parish councillors and bosses of Cranberry Foods.
F D Todd and Sons Ltd wants to store and shred timber at Skipton-on-Swale airfield, Sandhutton, on land currently used for storing farmyard manure, pig and poultry units.
But Sandhutton Parish Council says it is "totally opposed" to the venture, claiming it is agricultural land and the noise of the shredder will affect the turkeys in nearby buildings.
A report to the county council committee which will consider the planning application on June 7, however, recommends approval of the scheme.
It states that the nearest houses are 500 metres away from the site and the project will not have an adverse impact in Sandhutton
