A NUMBER of environmentally-friendly activities are being staged in Darlington today.
Urban Green Day will take place in the town's Market Place, from 10am to 4pm.
The day is part of a Europe-wide event to raise awareness of climate change.
A team from Darlington Borough Council will be handing out information and hosting a series of fun activities and there will be a variety of environmentally-friendly vehicles on show.
The Tees and Durham Energy Advice team will be giving out advice and the council's countryside team will be promoting its work with a walk starting from the Market Place at 1pm.
The day coincides with the launch of the borough council's internal GreenLink courier service. A cyclist will deliver internal mail for three of the council's departments rather than rely on more conventional transport.
