PEOPLE who have gone back to college celebrated their achievements at an Adult Learners Week event.
Durham's deputy director of education, Neil Charlton, presented awards to successful individuals and groups who attended classes in village halls and community learning centres around Wear Valley and Teesdale.
Individual winners were: Ferguson Matthews, Sandra Rudd, Chatcharee Smith, June Burnes, Malcolm Wood, David Woodgate, Harry Irwin, John Wayper, Steve Willsmore, Debra Baker and Christine Parker. The Tuesday Group won the main group award.
Other winners were Woodhouse Close Patchwork and Quilting Group, Dales Area Education in the Community; Tow Law Watercolour Painting/Art Group, Dales Area Education in the Community; NVQ Level 1 Hairdressing, Bishop Auckland College (BAC); St John's Chapel IT Group, BAC; CACHE Entry Level in Childcare, St Helen's Sure Start, BAC; NCFE Cert in Developing Skills in Early Years Practice, BAC; OCN Indian Head Massage Group, BAC.
Tutors awards went to: Beverley Ward, LEAP; Dave Merryweather, Education in the Community; Brian Childs, BAC; Joan Easton, Education in the Community; Nicholas Leake, Workers' Education Association.
