Church open: Yarm Parish Church will be open for visitors and private prayer on Wednesdays, from 10am to 4pm.
Prison talk: At the next Probus meeting, on June 14 at 10am at the Yarm Social Centre, Bentley Wynd, there will be a talk by the governor of Kirklevington Grange Prison.
Charity dinner: Doghouse Cricket Club is hosting a charity dinner with celebrity speakers, Gary Pallister and Paul Frost, at the Tall Trees Hotel in Yarm on Tuesday, June 21. Geoff Cook, former England batsman, will also be present. Dress code is formal and tickets are available from Tall Trees Hotel, (01642) 786786, priced £26.
Squash club: Yarm Squash Club, in Leven Road, which shares the ground with Yarm tennis and cricket clubs, is keen to welcome new members. The small, friendly club has five teams for men and one ladies team in the Durham and Cleveland SRA leagues, with the first team playing at the top end of the Premier League.
Voluntary work: NEPACS, formerly the North Eastern Prison After Care Society, is looking for people who can spare a few hours a month to help at Kirklevington Grange Resettlement Prison, Yarm. Flower planting: Help to green the environment on World Environment day, on Sunday, from 10.30am to noon, by planting plugs of native wildflowers in the meadow next to Quarry Woods local nature reserve. Summer fete: St Martin's church, Kirklevington, holds its annual fete on Saturday, June 11, at 2pm, in the village hall. The St John Ambulance band will provide music and the lucky programmes cost 50p.
Summertime festival: Ingleby Barwick Residents Network is a non-profit making organisation aiming to improve facilities and promote community spirit in the village. They welcome residents who would like to be involved. A summer festival is being planned for August 20 and help is needed to organise the event and provide support on the day.
