TWO cleaning company directors will appear at crown court this month accused of overseeing a benefit fraud scam.
David Wrightson and Phil Rowland are alleged to have encouraged cleaners to use false names while working for National Cleaning Systems (NCS), based in Gateshead.
NCS, also known as Stonehills Limited, had the cleaning contract for holiday caravan parks, including at Haggerston, in Northumberland, and nearby Berwick.
Mr Wrightson, 57, of Barmston, Washington, and 49-year-old Mr Rowland, of Wallsend, North Tyneside, are accused of conspiracy to obstruct a benefit fraud investigation and providing false statements to the department.
Gateshead magistrates yesterday agreed to send the case to Newcastle Crown Court.
The pair were bailed to appear at the crown court on June 21.
