THREE guided bike rides along some of the region's best off-road routes have been organised to help celebrate National Bike Week in County Durham.
The rides, starting from Consett, Lanchester and Bishop Auckland, follow former railway tracks to Broompark Picnic Area close to Durham City for a Bike Bonanza on Sunday, June 19.
As well as food, there will be mountain bike stunt riders, novelty bikes, a bike doctor clinic, cycle fitness information and nature trails with a countryside ranger at the picnic area.
Organised by Durham County Council in partnership with Derwentside and Wear Valley district councils, the rides take traffic-free railway routes with trained marshals leading the way.
The rides are suitable for adults and children aged over eight and each participant will receive a free T-shirt.
They are 11 miles each way from Consett, nine miles each way from Bishop Auckland and seven miles each way from Lanchester.
Those wanting to do only a one-way journey can take a Bike Bus back to the start.
Rides must be booked in advance by calling Catherine Williams on 0191-383 3361.
People living in the Durham City area are encouraged to walk or cycle to Broompark between midday and 2.30pm and join in the activities.
