A POPULAR primary school has been praised by Government inspectors.
Ofsted said there was a high quality of teaching and learning at Delves Lane Infant and Nursery School, near Consett.
The report said: "It is a good inclusive school, where each individual matters and all pupils receive effective support.
"Achievement is good, standards in ICT (information and communications technology) are above average and pupils are achieving well."
The school was also praised for its links with the community, good behaviour and the very good leadership of the headteacher.
Inspectors felt the school needed to improve its standards in science to match those in English, mathematics and ICT.
It also needed to improve pupils' attendance and links with parents.
Headteacher Karen Holden said: "The report is a tribute to the hard work and commitment of staff, governors, pupils and parents.
"The points raised in the report have already been picked up in the school's management plan and are being addressed.
"It has recognised the progress already made by the school and challenges us to continue and do even better."
