VANDALS targeting the derelict former home of Darlington Football Club have been warned they could be putting themselves in danger.
Feethams has been unused since the Quakers played their last game there in May 2003.
Darlington Feethams Cricket Field Trust has asked for professional advice on the best way of disposing of the land, and is expected to reach a decision soon.
In the meantime, the ground is being targeted by vandals.
The administrators appointed when the Quakers faced a financial crisis in late 2003 have also recently withdrawn their security arrangements at the ground.
Cricket club chairman Brian Johnson said he feared for the safety of those getting onto the site.
He said: "The place is a wreck and we have done our best to keep people out, but it's just not possible all the time.
"Everything is just being totally vandalised, everything that's breakable is being broken. There is virtually not a window left. The police have been regularly involved and have visited the premises."
Mr Johnson said the deteriorating West Stand was a major cause for concern.
"These kids are getting up on the roof and one of these days, somebody's going to go through it," he said.
"We have put notices up to warn people and have endeavoured to secure the place, but they still get in."
Experts say the trust could make millions if it agrees to sell Feethams to a developer.
