SESSAY are in second place in the table by virtue of having won four of their six games.
Their latest success came at Osbaldwick last Saturday, when the home side made a first innings score of 159-9 as David Johnson took 4-44.
Sound performances by Nick Harrison (64), Chris Till (41) and Matt Till (28) then saw Sessay to a five-wicket win.
Pickering find themselves in the upper ranks as they lie in fourth place after gaining an advantage draw over Easingwold.
Chris Nicholls (36), Mark Shepherd (42) and Colin Frank (27) provided the bedrock before Mark Aconley hit an unbeaten 57 to lift the home score to 220-6, with Jonathon Marwood (3-60) showing the best bowling return for the visitors.
Easingwold skipper Martin Piercy then made 45 and cousin Tom Piercy 59, but Tony Evans claimed 3-49 and Easingwold fell marginally short at 212-6 despite an unbeaten 35 from Dan Copeland.
Division One
Lorenzo Ingram was again among the runs for leaders Stamford Bridge and was homing in on a fourth century when he was caught by Mike Harding off Mark Wilkie for 80.
However, by the time the Jamaican departed, Stamford were well on the way to surpassing the 143 all out total made by second-placed Duncombe Park, for whom Wilkie made 59.
A relatively rare result occurred at Pocklington, where the dismissal of both the home side and visiting Thirsk for an identical 142 produced a perfect tie.
Thirsk's best batting came from Huw Williams (44) and Mark Cook (27) before Barry Petty (4-41) and Neil Laidlaw (4-40) had the home side on the rocks at 137-9. But they could not gain the final wicket until the scores were levelled.
Division Two
New Earswick were dismissed for only 89 by visitors Crayke as the two bottom sides in the division clashed.
Mark Hutchinson took 6-46 and Dave Allitt 3-22 to set up Crayke's first win of the season, which they achieved for the loss of just one wicket as Paul Hutchinson made an unbeaten 63.
Studley Royal have powered into second place after thumping Bridlington by nine wickets.
The visitors were only able to reach 152-7 as Glen Carlton took 3-24 and was then able to put his feet up as Anthony Mackle made 78 not out. Matt Pickles (38) was the only Royals batsman to fall.
Two of the division's leading sides were in conflict at Ripon, where visitors Sewerby gained the better of a draw.
Sewerby reached an impressive 237-5 before Ripon were able to gain a precarious draw at 181-9 through the concentrated effort of Australian Paul Reynolds, who carried his bat through the entire innings to remain unbeaten with 114.
Division Three
Easingwold suffered their first defeat of the season when beaten by Heworth and are now joint second with Folkton and Flixton.
Easingwold's skipper Alan Robinson made 63 not out, youngster Tom Banks 44 and Andy Metcalfe 26 to see their side to 169-5.
The Easingwold bowlers then seemed to have the game under control before Heworth piled on 100 in 15 overs and were eventually able to record a six-wicket win.
Clifton Alliance II had the biggest win of the day when they annihilated Stillington to the tune of 156 runs.
The home side amassed 251-5 as Wayne Linton took 3-79, but Stillington then disintegrated to 95 all out.
Division Four
Beverley Town's second string suffered their first York League defeat when they went down by 18 runs when entertaining Huby.
Chris Cundall hit an unbeaten 53 for the Hambleton side, with other runs coming from Darren Howell (30) and Hugh Sheddon (28), to see Huby to 166-7.
Dan Grainger (3-41) and Tim Little (3-21) then took control as the home side were dismissed for 148.
Division Five
Thirsk and Londesbrough Park retained their mid-table status after playing out a draw, with the latter emerging in the dominant position after making a first innings score of 197-9.
Danny McGee led Thirsk's reply with 57, while Jim McKendry made 45 and then watched his 14-year-old son Liam compile a confident unbeaten 29 which saw Thirsk to a draw at 154-6.
Division Six
Wilberfoss went into their game at Stillington with two vacancies in their ranks, but were able to emerge with a draw as their last two batsmen managed to stave off defeat.
Peter Dalton (38) and Ben Walker (28) had seen Stillington to a modest 129-9 and Clive Wakefield then took 3-16, but the visitors hung in at 82-7.
Sessay gained their first win of the season with panache as their 53-run win over Thorp Arch and Boston Spa lifted them off bottom place.
Skipper Richard Ormston set an example by hitting 76, while Tony Fox added an unbeaten 45 to Sessay's 190-9. James Easton (4-38) and Mike Shuttleworth (4-46) then worked together to bowl the Boston side out for 137.
