FED-UP residents have had enough of drug-dealing neighbours and are "shopping" them to the police - by the dozen.
Police on Teesside acknowledged the role of ordinary people in cracking drug-related crime, as 85 officers, with sniffer dogs and air support, carried out the sixth in a series of early morning raids across Middlesbrough yesterday as part of Operation Sabre.
Police raided houses in two parallel streets in the town's Gresham ward to tackle a suspected crack cocaine gang.
Detective Superintendent Stuart Swinson said: "We have had an enormous amount of help from local people who have fed us intelligence of the activities of people linked to drugs."
Six people, including a woman in an advanced state of pregnancy, were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs following yesterday's raids on seven addresses in Laycock Street, Orwell Street, Essex Street, Croft Avenue and Wicklow Street.
Police have made a total of 50 arrests since the latest wave of swoops started a week ago.
