THERE will be a wealth of musical talent in the spotlight later this month at one of the most important events in Hartlepool's calendar.
The final of the Hartlepool Music and Arts Festival takes place in the Town Hall Theatre, on Saturday, June 11, starting at 7.15pm.
It features the very best in local talent, with more than 400 performances being whittled down to the 30 heat winners chosen to take part in the final.
The heat winners include the Musicians Unlimited Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Manor College of Technology Chamber Choir, along with the winners of the woodwind, strings, brass, vocal and piano sections.
The annual festival is organised by Hartlepool music teachers Pat Rutter and Derryck Pinfield and is supported by Hartlepool Borough Council.
Mr Pinfield said: "Once again, the festival has attracted an impressive range of competitors from around the North-East, and we're set for an exciting final which is sure to be a treat for the ears.
"The quality of the entries is outstanding - the area has a wealth of musical talent of all ages and backgrounds."
Tickets costing £6 for adults and £4 for concessions can be purchased at Hartlepool Art Gallery and Tourist Information Centre in Church Square, or by calling (01429) 890000.
