Sharpshooters from the Royal Air Force are aiming high after qualifying for a national championships.
The six-strong team from RAF Leeming took part in the Command Skill-at-Arms meeting in Bisley, Surrey, pitting their wits against nearly 100 other competitors in three rifle matches and a pistol event.
Team members had to prove their skills in shooting at different distances and in a simulated built-up area, using static and moving targets.
They finished with one first place, two seconds, two thirds and two fourths, meaning they qualified for the RAF Championships, at the end of June.
The most successful shooters there will be chosen to compete against 15 other countries at the Armed Forces Skill-at-Arms contest in Arkansas, US, in October.
Team captain Corporal Beth Franks said: "Four members of the team were complete novices, but did fantastically. It's very difficult to get time to practice on long ranges because they are booked so far in advance - so I was surprised they were able to just turn up and do so well."
