PUPILS who will go to school in the UK's first education village from October, have designed their own school uniform and logo.
Darlington's £35m education village, being built in Haughton, will bring Haughton Community, Springfield Primary and Beaumont Hill schools under one roof - providing education for 1,400 pupils from the age of three to 19.
Pupils, staff and parents were all consulted before the uniform and logo were produced. The chosen uniform includes different-coloured jumpers for different school years, although the whole school will have the same uniform design.
Nursery children and pupils over 16 will not be required to wear a uniform.
Those in key stage one and two will wear red sweatshirts, white polo shirts, grey trousers and black shoes. Key stage three will have royal blue sweatshirts and key stage four will have black sweatshirts.
Prefects and mentors will be allowed to wear a shirt and a tie in the school colours as a privilege and reward for being chosen for the role.
All the sweatshirts will have the new school logo, chosen after a competition at all three schools.
The logo is based on a design by Emily Harkin, from Haughton Community School, who will be presented with a new uniform and £10 as her prize.
