THE vital role played by the ambulance service is being highlighted at a roadshow next week.
The event at the Guildhall, in St Helen's Square, York, is from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday.
Staff and managers will show what happens when a 999 call is made.
A mock control-room will be set up, allowing people to watch the sequence unfold.
A new ambulance will be on display alongside a 1965 ambulance, and life-saving equipment through the years.
In addition, a Life-Cycle paramedic, who answers 999 calls on a mountain bike, will be present.
Staff will be on hand to teach lifesaving skills to adults and children.
