A TEENAGE girl was attacked in a bus station, police have revealed.
The 17-year-old was making her way home from the MetroCentre and got off a bus at Stanley, north Durham.
She began walking towards the bus stand to catch the 729 to South Stanley when she was approached from behind by an attacker who punched her on the back of the head.
The victim went to the University Hospital of North Durham where she received treatment for a head injury and was detained overnight for observation.
The attack happened at 7pm on Sunday, May 22.
PC Paul Knaggs said: "This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on a young woman making her way home."
An 18-year-old man from the Stanley area was arrested and released on police bail.
