AN armed gang have targeted a Teesside supermarket for the second time in two weeks, said Cleveland Police.

The three men, armed with a knife and claw hammer, struck at the One Stop Shop in Allendale Road, in Ormesby, and stole cash and cigarettes.

There were two shop assistants, three shoppers and a security guard in the store during the raid on Sunday at about 7pm. No one was hurt during the incident.

The robbers had their faces covered.

Detective Constable Mick Pain, of Cleveland Police, said: "We want to hear from anyone who was in the immediate area and saw any youths hanging around or acting suspiciously to come forward."

Officers believe the robbery is linked to a similar raid at the store two weeks ago.

The robber carrying the knife, who snatched money from the till, was about 5ft 10in, wearing a baggy, blue shirt and dark training bottoms. A second suspect, carrying a hammer, was about 5ft 6in, wearing a cream and beige hooded top. The third man was 6ft, skinny and wearing navy blue trousers and black, fingerless gloves.
