CHILDREN at a primary school have been dancing to a different beat after taking part in a masterclass with a South African student.
Mthoko Ntuli, from Durban, visited Blue Coat School in Durham City to teach the children dances from his homeland.
The 31-year-old is studying business at Durham University after winning a scholarship through the Ruth First Trust.
He agreed to pass on his dancing skills to the children after meeting their teacher Susan Pickersgill at a university banquet earlier this year.
As well as the traditional South African dance Sho Sho Loza, the children also tried their hand at some Latin American steps, including the Cha Cha.
Mrs Pickersgill said: "I knew the children would really enjoy meeting Mthoko and learning a brand-new style of dance so I invited him along to give us an impromptu lesson.
"It's good for the children to try something new and learn about different cultures."
