TIME is temporarily being called to allow for the transformation of a well-known city centre pub.
The Coach and Eight, a riverside public house, off Framwelgate Bridge, in Durham, will close on June 15 for the facelift.
The owner, the Laurel Pub Company, is investing £160,000 on the refurbishment to give the pub a new image.
The emphasis is to be switched to make the premises more food orientated, while providing a relaxed ambience during the day, with a continental-style option for table service for drinks and food.
Music will be played during the evenings with a party atmosphere promised at weekends.
The pub's sun terrace, offering views across the River Wear to Durham Cathedral and castle peninsula, is also being refurbished and extended.
The pub is scheduled to reopen on Friday, July 1
