CHILDREN from a newly-opened nursery enjoyed their first day out together when they took a trip to a County Durham farm.
Topoli Joe Nursery, in Northgate, Darlington, opened in September and the day trip to Hall Hill Farm in Lanchester was the children's first field trip.
About 20 children visited the farm. They ranged from two to 13-year-olds, as the nursery also has an after-school and holiday club.
They were able to dress up as animals, watch a puppet show, milk a wooden cow, go on a tractor ride, milk the lambs, feed the animals, hold the baby chicks, guinea pigs and rabbits.
They also visited the playground area and saw the chipmunks in Noah's ark.
Nursery owner Sandra Zafarani said: "The trip was very successful, the children had a wonderful day.
"The children were a credit to the nursery and holiday club, displaying good behaviour as well as manners and we are very proud of our children."
Topoli Joe Nursery has 42 children on its register and is in the process of expanding.
The third floor is being refurbished for use of after school and holiday club children. When it is finished there should be room for an extra 50 children.
