A PROJECT to promote community pride among young people has been hailed a success.
Pride in Consett North is coming to an end and an event has been organised to celebrate the project's achievements. It aimed to increase awareness of local environmental issues such as litter and dog fouling.
The scheme has involved working with schools and community groups and activities have included a poster competition, community events and improving areas of Consett North.
Celebrations will be held in the Civic Hall at the Civic Centre, in Consett, today, from 2pm.
Schoolchildren and community members will be attending the event, which will include presentations by some of the schools involved.
Consett North Partnership chairman Tom Lawrie said: "The project has been a huge success and is a credit to all involved. The work will be continued through volunteers from Consett North Partnership.
