AN amended application has been submitted for a controversial extension to a bungalow in a Teesdale village.
Last year, an application by Digby Harris to extend his bungalow at Cherry Trees, Lartington, was refused by Teesdale District Council's planning committee, against the recommendation of planning officers.
The refusal is now the subject of an appeal, which is to be heard on June 21.
Meanwhile, an amended application has been submitted and again planning officers have recommended approval. There have been seven letters of objection to the new scheme and Lartington Parish Council has also objected.
The original application was refused as councillors felt it was out of keeping with the surrounding area and would have an adverse visual impact.
An agent acting on behalf of Mr Harris has said he is now confined to a wheelchair following a stroke and requires specialist single-storey accommodation. The scheme has been redesigned internally to provide wheelchair-friendly accommodation.
The application will be discussed on Wednesday, in the council chamber, Teesdale House, Barnard Castle, at 5.30pm.
