THREE generations of the same family will ensure an annual fun run really lives up to its name.
Brian Simms, 62, his son Michael, 38, and Michael's daughter, Emily, four, all from Eston, near Middlesbrough, will take part in the two-mile family fun run on Father's Day.
Corus worker Michael said: "This is the third time Emily and I have taken part and she's really pleased that her grandad is joining us this year.
"Emily's even more excited about this year because it will be the first time she's done the course on foot, instead of being pushed round by me or her mum."
Emily, who attends nursery at Whale Hill Primary School, is looking for sponsorship to raise as much money as possible for children's hospice Zoe's Place, at Normanby, the main beneficiary of all fundraising proceeds from the fun run.
The event,on Sunday, June 19, organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, regularly attracts more than 500 children accompanied by parents.
Runners will follow a route in and around a wooded area on the boundary of Kirkleatham Show Field.
Entry for adults is £1 and £3 for children, who will receive a specially designed T-shirt. Entry forms are available from the council's events team, on (01642) 471503.
The closing date for postal entries is Monday, and they should be returned to: The Events Team, Belmont House, Rectory Lane, Guisborough, TS14 7FD, with cheques made payable to Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
Participants can also register on the day of the run and are advised to arrive no later than 10am.
