A PRIMARY school's efforts to enrich the curriculum with the arts and technology has landed it two awards.
Ox Close Primary School, in Spennymoor, has received an Artsmark Gold award and Naacemark award. The Artsmark award recognises the school's continued efforts to introduce children to all aspects of the arts including music, drama and dance.
The Naacemark award demonstrates outstanding teaching and use throughout school of information and computer technology.
Headteacher Jo Frost said: "We are really, really pleased with both of these awards.
"We make a real effort in both areas and have specialist teachers in music, Jayne Alton, and Lisa Petch, for ICT, who teach to a high standard.
"ICT is part of everyday life in school, not just in lessons, but in the way we run the school, from keeping records to having a website. And art is part of the school's identity.
"We have lots of children who play instruments and we invite lots of visitors, ranging from dancers to drummers, to share with our youngsters different skills.
